The Top 5 New Interior Design Trends of 2019

See what was hot at this year’s international High Point Market
High Point Market is the largest home furnishings trade show in the world and takes place twice a year in High Point, NC. We just returned from the Spring 2019 Market where we saw thousands of the latest home furnishings from the world’s top manufacturers. After spending five days visiting showrooms and sitting on our favorite pieces of furniture, we made a list of the hottest new trends.
1. Color is Back!
Neutrals and grays have been the most popular color scheme in furniture and interior design for nearly a decade. We are thrilled to see that color is making a huge comeback. From bright colors to pastel shades to rich hues….take your pick and incorporate your favorites into your home decor.
2. Gentle Curves to Soften Your Space.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the comfort. Plush seating, rounded edges, and extra pillows were all the rage this Spring. The curvy, comfy chair and ottoman pictured above even won the 2019 Pinnacle Award for “Best in Show Upholstered Furniture – High End Luxury.”
3. Eye-Catching Patterns and Textures are in Vogue!
Prints, plaids, leathers, and heavy woven textiles, like velvets, were everywhere! You can quickly and easily add some patterns and textures to your own decor with accent pillows or throws or even a new piece of art.
4. Unique Lighting That Dazzles.
Lighting helps create the atmosphere in your home and we saw lots of unique options. We loved the lighting inspired by natural elements such as trees and icicles. Tassels, which are usually small finishing touches, were now front and center as lamps.
5. Dragon Accents Are Up and Coming.
You don’t need to be a big Game of Thrones fan to appreciate the elegance of dragons. The legendary dragon, revered since ancient times as a lucky symbol, makes a bold design statement and mixes well with both traditional and modern decor.
