A Study in Color & Refinement
Traditional architecture meets classic design
Our client loved this room so much! For starters, this study featured bookshelves and a fireplace. It was a room that offered real character and personality. But, the client also wanted the room to feel more welcoming.

Fran Healy, our designer, began this project knowing everything from the rug to the windows would need to be addressed to create the visual appeal the client wanted. Because this couple loved to read, he replaced the loveseat with large, comfortable club chairs. He placed them on either side of the fireplace. Then, he added a gorgeous game table. Next, Fran added a new rug with brighter hues. Finally, he turned turned his attention to the windows.
The windows get a makeover!
Fran asked our window treatment specialist, Jessica Deal-Fadgen, to help. Together, they created the illusion of bigger windows while giving the room a classic warmth you might find in an English library.
The client fell in love with the fabric for these two windows! In fact, this fabric choice led the way for the design of the cornice. First, Jessica maximized the width of the cornice board. This way, the panels framed the outside of each window. To make the look even more refined, she found a textured velvet flat trim and added it to the lead edge of the panels. This created a gorgeous definition and gave the panels real visual interest. And, because the colors of the cornice fabric enhanced the exposed brick wall, they were the basis for the entire rooms color palette.
Almost immediately, these windows gave the room new life thanks to this rich fabric and smart design. The final result presented a tailored, elegant and warm feeling. Now, this den is a perfect place to cozy up with a good book! The client was very happy and told us it’s now their favorite room in their home!
